Designing and manufacturing personal protective equipment for educational institutions
North Kansas City, MO (July 14, 2020) — While the debate over face masks versus face shields ensues for students returning to school in August, InStore Design Display (IDD) and Blue Valley Unified School District in Kansas have collaborated to go one step further. IDD has designed and manufactured custom hanging plexiglass barriers for all the school reception areas in the district to add further protection when staff, students, and parents interact.
"Blue Valley Schools is leading the way to prepare its facilities for the start of school. As a parent of a middle school student, I'm pleased that the district surveyed parents about safety concerns and is now proactively setting up the schools to help protect staff, students, and parents," said Shana Ryan, IDD Sr. Account Director.
Blue Valley Unified School District is a top-rated, public school district located in Overland Park, Leawood, and Olathe, Kansas. It provides "education beyond expectations" to more than 22,000 students in grades PK, K-12. The district has five high schools, nine middle schools, and 21 elementary schools.
"IDD's short lead times and ability to customize the hanging barriers for a variety of school reception areas made the company an ideal provider as we prepare our facilities for the start of school," said Jake Slobodnik, Director of Facilities and Operations for Blue Valley Unified School District.
In March 2020, IDD pivoted its design and manufacturing of custom retail displays to protective face shields and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to help safeguard first responders, frontline healthcare professionals, and essential employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. By refocusing the business, IDD was able to preserve jobs for 35 full-time and ten temporary employees. Now, IDD is serving retail businesses as they reopen and educational institutions preparing for students in the fall.
