National Small Business week April 28th through May 5th allows us to recognize and highlight the contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. Each day small business owners are working to grow their small businesses, create jobs, and drive innovation. Here at InStore Design Display we want to celebrate small businesses by highlighting one of our very own small business clients.
Recently, I had the pleasure to interview Helen McNamara, owner of the Top Flight Party Supplies in Kansas City, Kansas. Years ago, Helen and her husband decided to start a weekend bounce house rental business as a part-time job out of their home while they both kept their full time jobs. As business grew, they found they needed a retail space to conduct business transactions and ease customer’s minds that they were a legitimate business and not an online scam. Helen’s biggest obstacle in running her small business is loss of time with family on the weekends since that is when most of the customer’s celebrations take place. The time involved in starting a business is a sacrifice, so you want to think long and hard and make sure to follow your passion.
Helen’s best advice for someone wanting to start their own business is to slow down and explore all options before making a decision. The most important thing is to always make your customers happy, they are the reason you are in business. If you have a special event in the near future check out Top Flight Bounce House for your party needs.
